The Crazy Mountains are one of Montana’s many “island ranges” within the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. The “Crazies” also contain 50 glaciers and permanent snowfields, yet these features are rapidly declining and disappearing due to climate change. Home to wolverines, mountain goats, and alpine lakes, the Crazy Mountains have long held cultural and spiritual significance for Crow Native Americans and other Northern Plains tribes.
