While overnighting in the wilds of Yellowstone a few summers ago, Erik and I came across two sets of elk antlers gracing a log near our permitted backcountry campsite. It’s illegal to remove antlers, bones, rocks, or anything else for that matter from any national parks, so we enjoyed imagining how massive these bull elk must have been to have had such antlers, and left them in place for future backcountry visitors to appreciate.
