Indian Paintbrush

Indian Paintbrush, also known as “Prairie Fire”, gets its color from bracts that encircle the actual flower. They range across much of Western North America and their colors can range widely, too-including purple, orange, yellow, and red, such as the one in this image. Indian Paintbrush epitomizes summer in the Northern Rockies to many residents and visitors alike, and it is also Wyoming’s official state flower.
