Manzanita, which means “little apple” in Spanish, is one of my favorite sights when traveling in more arid places out West. Ranging in size from evergreen shrubs to small trees, they produce small fruit favored by wildlife and humans alike. This photo was taken way up in the Cerbat Mountains between the towns of Chloride and Dolan Springs, Arizona.
