Yellowstone’s Northern Range ecompasses a vast area favored by large populations of wild ungulates, especially bison, elk, pronghorn antelope, both mule and whitetail deer, bighorn sheep, and the occasional moose. This lower, drier. less snowy part of Yellowstone not only attracts these hoofed mammals, of course, but predators such as wolves that like to hunt them! The Northern Range roughly follows the Yellowstone and Lamar river basins, and is one of the best places for year-round wildlife watching in the park.
