This autumn view from the 10, 154 foot Mt. Blackmore looks west toward Montana’s Madison Range and beyond. Located in the Gallatin Mountains south of Bozeman, Mt. Blackmore is part of the 155,000 acre Porcupine-Buffalo Horn-Hyalite wilderness study area. Formal wilderness designation of this “W.S.A” would protect a  vital remote part of Greater Yellowstone from further development, enhancing the ability of elk, grizzlies, wolves and other wildlife to make a living, and future generations of bipedal hominids to enjoy these wild places as well.
