In June 2025 my husband Erik and I were fortunate to visit a backcountry lodge on Chinitna Bay in Alaska’s Lake Clark National Park. Over several days, our guides led short walks to safely observe brown bears and other wildlife, and one day we saw and watched 31 different individual bears going about their business! This is one of my favorite images from that time, of two cubs dancing and wrestling while their watchful mother feeds on nearby sedges.
